First of all, download & run crystaldiskinfo free & check hdd status is showing as good(post screenshot of values here after editing out serial number). If everything is good then try reconnecting it to a desktop system back side usb ports.Do not use any usb hub(or use only usb hub that comes with their own dedicated power adapter aka externally powered usb hub).Do not write/paste anything to this drive until data is recovered.
Have you tried connecting it to a desktop system backside usb ports?Have you tried changing usb cable?
The thing is you don’t seem to have much experience with data recovery/repair tools & running them incorrectly might do more harm than good.I suggest asking a pro’s help & assuming this issue is not because of hardware fault, running a few software to recover/rebuild data shouldn’t be too expensive.
If you still want to give it a go personally then as of this stage there are 3 options:
1.try individual files recovery using software like recuva without reinitialising disk
2.try some partition/data recovery software after reinitialising the disk(least preferred option in my opinion)
3.try to repair/rebuild partitions using testdisk without reinitialising the disk(if it works then disk will simply revert back to its original state but it is also what you may call most user-unfriendly)
try asking in hddguru forums(conventional hard drives section),there are some really knowledgeable people there with lots of experience regarding situations much worse than this.
Thank you for the help
i’ll try to recover and see what happen
Hi,
I’m having the exact same issue with my 1TB my passport drive.
Have you managed to recover the data in some way? Did you use the TestDisk SW mentioned above?
Thanks
