WD MyCloud - How to delete a folder that doesn't show up in MyCloud Dashboard

There is a Folder named ‘Mike’ Which somehow exists which i would like to delete, when i right click, there is no option to delete, but that same folder doesn’t show up in my MyCloud Dashboard>Shares. Any help for me to be able to delete this foder would be great!

Also the when i try to edit the folder name ‘mike’ and try to make it with a capital M it keeps giving me “Share Function Failed. (400099)” would that be because there is already a folder with that name?

Thanks

Mike

Try to do a System Only Factory Restore. This will delete your users and access rights, but leave your shares intact. You will be left with an admin user with a blank password. Then recreate the user Mike to see whether the issue subsists.

unfortunatly the folder still exsists, still not showing up in my dashboard and still no option to delete, are there any other possible options other than formatting the whole drive? if not i’ll have to live with a folder that i don’t want there and can’t even rename and use :frowning:

I had the same problem

How i managed to solve it on my machine was

Open up the dashboard screen

Create a New share named exactly the same as the one that is not showing

Share Description i put overwrite

The dashboard then created the share, wich was the same name as the missing one

I then removed the share using the dashboard

It has now gone

I am surprised the creation didn’t fail as it did for me

I found 2 ways to fix this

  1. if you a comfortable with Linux and and editor then backup and correct or add the entry in /etc/samba/overall_share

  2. do a system only restore and it will correct this, then you need to redo all setup except shares and data
