WD TV Live cannot connect to 2 mybooklive private shares at one time

So, I’m very disappointed I cannot connect my WD TV Live to two mybooklive private shares at one time through the media library for network share option.  Through this WD TV Live feature, the user can network different shared folders with media in order to how album art through their medial library/watch their contents, etc.

I have been using 4 WD TV Lives for a couple years now; we are official cable cutters. I have been succesfully using this media library for network share option through a mybooklive “public” share with no problems throughout that time (besides having to change my router’s workgroup name to something apart from the mybooklive and wdtvlive’s to stop losing connection to the mybooklive).  Well, recently I decided that with my kids getting older and with their interest, I would install the wd2go application on their android tablets so they could access appropriate contect from their tablets with only read access.  So, I created two shares: one for the parents with rated R movies, TV shows, etc. and a second for kids with kids movies.  And, over the course of a week, reorganized the content into the two folders.  The intent, of course, was to only give them read access to the kids share.

I was able to successfully map the drives and see them on my computer.  When I went to connected the wd tv live to the first “private” share, there was an initial issue of not connecting which I easily cleared by going into network and clearing login for network shares and then re-accomplishing the networking process through System category.  However, the problem arose when I attempted to connect the second “private” share.  I get an error message about making sure the client is available for sharing or similar.

  • I tried to connect the two private shares a couple times.

  • I ensured both the wd tv live and the mybooklive has the most current firmwares.

  • I reset the wd tv live to factory settings and re-tried.

  • I tried to accomplish on a second wd tv live

I’m now, over the next week, moving my files back to the public share so that we can at least watch them through the wd tv live media share option.

wd; can you fix this?

Huh?   I have no problems connecting my WD’s to multiple shares on the same NAS…

In fact, my QNAP (my primary source) has four different shares the WD’s connect to.

I’m trying to connect to private shares on mybooklive.  Is that the same thing as yours?  I can connect to multiple shares just not more than one private shares.

On a side note, when i go to log-in to share with username and password there’s a box that says “Remember Me” and has a check mark in it.  I can’t uncheck it.  Maybe if I could figure out how to uncheck it that’d fix the issue?

Yes, all my media shares are private shares.

Ok, now it’s becoming clearer.

You can’t log into multiple shares of any particular NAS unless all the shares have the same credentials available.

If you’re logging into a share for use with the Media Library, that’s correct – you can’t uncheck the Remember Me mark.   It wouldn’t make much sense to add a share to the media library if you don’t allow the WD to save the credentials.

So it sounds like you just need to make sure all the shares have the same user allowed.

The two private shares have three usernames and passwords. However, one of the usernames and passwords is the master account which has read and write access to all shares. That is the credentials I’m trying to use to log into both shares–the same one…
