Wd tv live device keeps restarting

This started about a month ago. I have 2 WD tv live media player. 1 in my bedroom and 1 in the living room.  It happened out of the blue that the one I have in my bedrrom that it i will just keep on restarting. I noticed that it restarts while trying to connect to network. I thought this one is probably broken already since it’s old and have no warranty anymore.

 

So I tried using the other one in my living room. To my dismay the same thing happened. This is not even 3 yrs old. So I thought it mught be broken again.

 

I bought a new one…this time I also bough with it the square trade extended warranty. To my dismay again. I experience the same problem again with a new one. So what I did with the new one is to disable the wifi connection. I restarted the device without the wifi connection. It worked fine. But whenever the wifi is enabled it will just keep on restarting.

 

another thing I noticed is if the WD tv live media player wifi is enabled. and my router is off. it will stop restating.

 

It only keeps restarting when when it tries to connect to the internet.

I would check the wireless signal at the bedroom location.  I am guessing it is too weak.  If you have an Android or Kindle device, install the free app called WiFi Analyzer and get a reading on the 2.4G router signal close to the WDTV.  If the signal is quite weak, e.g. over -70db, the wireless signal there is way too poor to get the job done.

Thnx Mike for the message. I did check that. The signal is actually strong. As the router where my WD TV Live connects to is the same room as the wd tv live. In the other bedroom it does the same thing too. in the living room it does the same thing. Thnx again.
