Yes I downloaded WD 2go pro, WD 2go, and WD photos for my Ipad2 and my Iphone3GS. Only WD photos works.
The problem is that the apps don’t see the shares at all. Under Shares it just shows an empty menu
-The apps see the device just fine(i even tried changing the name of the drive EX: MyBookLive to MyNet drive) I tested this with in my network and just using 3G and it works fine it sees thedevice under it’s new name
-I created another account with admin rights and created other shares
-WD 2go.com access works fine remotely for all my created shares
-I have changed cache size
-I have tried to enable and disable remote access through the Dashboard
-I assigned an stic IP to the drive
-No problems accesing the drive from my other laptos and desktop remotely or locally
-I have erased the devices and gotten different activation codes at least five times
-I have IOS 5 on both my Ipad2 and iphone
-I have a E1000 cisco/linksys router with latest firmware
-I have a 3TB My Book live with the latest firmware
The app did work briefly though my ipad as I was setting everything up I think before the My Book live firmware upgrade
yes. you can download wd link from the mbl downloads page, and it should help you access and map the drive. you need to go into configure and make sure you have everything setup for using wd2go. there are a couple of places in there that you need to configure for it to work. also, you need to make sure that your router isn’t causing issue with upnp. if it’s enabled try disabling it, and vise versa.
Yeah I have gone in the ui and configured the drive correctly. I drive has its own ip and I I put it in the DMZ just to test with a different app if I could get to the drive. Everything worked except WD 2go. Done the disabling/enabling upnp tried just about every test combination I can think of. The WD photo app works fine. Like I mentioned before the app sees the drive but when you go to see the shares the menu is empty. I am curious if anybody out there is having problems using ios5 and WD2go. Whatever the app is using to retrieve the names of the folders is not working. Net bios works since it can retrieve the name of the drive ok. I’m tempted if it wasn’t so time consuming to let the drive go back to factory settings just to see if the old firmware works with the app. Since when I first set it up the app worked.
Yeah, then that would be my only suggestion - to reset to factory defaults. there is a staff member named wdtony that wanders around these boards. maybe he can help you. sorry I couldn’t.
Well return to factory settings worked! Weird my settings are identical as they where before I had the problem. Now I have to spend the next few hours moving everything back on the drive. Obviously something with the folder structure got messed up.
I have a folder, and several folders with data inside it. It contains different file types (.doc, .ai, .jpg, .xls, and lots of sub folders) which I’ve been collecting during years in my notebook. There’s one particular folder which keeps being showed as empty when I try to acces it through WD2Go Pro (when I’m in my wifi network or if I’m away through the Internet, is the same issue) If I acces it from my Mac, I can see what’s inside. But from the iPhone and iPad apps looks like it is empty. I tried creating another folder, and moving all the content from the original folder to the new one, and still the same thing is happening. I run the latest OS both in iPhone as in iPad. The WD is configured with 5 users with password, and one public user. This issue is occurring in my user, which is password protected. Oddly, this is the folder were I have all my files I need to work. The other ones, containing photos, music, and other file types too, etc., they all work fine… I really need help. I can’t work!!! I’m carrying another HD with me to do what I was supposed to do through my personal cloud! Thanks!
SOLVED!!! I found files in the folders I couldn’t acces which were screwing everything up. 1.- access the drive via smb: Smb://mybooklive.local 2.- identify this files marked under Mac osx as Unix executable files with names with the like of: APKJRC~3 or I7CIPB~N 3.- backup them somewhere else in case you would need them to restore 4.- Delete from HD 5.- Access folders from WD2Go, finally…
