I plug it into the device and there is no detection of the Wireless dongle. The Network Setup page shows no option for Wirless connectivity.
From what I read on the forums, this Adapter is supported now in the latest firmware and there is plenty of examples of it working (minus various connection errors, yet it is still detected by the device)
Any assistance would be apprepriated, including suggested course of actions,
I originally purchased the WD TV Live Hub paired with the Asus N13 usb about 1 year ago. Things work terrific with this combination.
Since my Xbox 360 has to convert my movies if they are anything other than .wma, I decided to do another WD TV Live Hub for my main TV instead of the Xbox 360. I purchased a new WD TV Live Hub, along with another Asus N13 usb wireless connector.
When I set things up, I updated all of the firmware through a wired connection. Then, I tried plugging in my wireless adapter, and nothing happens. The WD TV Live Hub doesnt even recognize that the wireless adapter is even plugged in.
I got my previously purhcased Asus N13 usb adapter and plugged it in, and presto, things work perfectly.
I RMA’d my newly purchased ASUS N13, and the replacement just arrived.
I plugged it in, expecting to simply connect to my wireless network, but now I am pissed that its not working. After finding this forum, I am very disappointed that one version of this usb adapter works, while another version doesnt. How outrageous. Now I am stuck with a “working” USB wireless device, RMA’d a working USB wireless device, and my only option is to run to a local B&M store, and drop 2x the price just to get this thing to work.
At least the forum explains why my Asus N13 doesnt work. I would have spent the rest of the evening trying to figure it out.
I printed off the compatable list, and took it to a local B&M store. I found a Netgar wireless adapter on the list, and purchased it. I asked if I could test it before I left the store. They hooked up my device, and we tested it. No Go!
I then went back with the sales rep, and we looked at other wireless usb adapters. I wanted one that was wireless N, and 300mbps. I run an Asus RT-N16 router, with Tomato software, and tweaked wireless settings to improve performance.
We tried 4 different adapters right off the shelf, and none of them worked. Then, I ended up trying the Belkin N300, and it worked like a charm.
The Belkin N300 is NOT on the list, however, it works just fine. I already brought it home, hooked it up, and am able to stream 720p movies flawlessly.
I am glad I got it working, however, I wish WD would have made this box with the capability to load drivers, then nobody would have this problem at all.
