I’ve had my WDTV Live Hub for nearly 2 years now and I’ve always been able to copy files to the device while turned off. A few days ago, I noticed that the device drops off the network when turned off.
It’s possible that this problem started with the latest firmware update, but I can’t say for sure. I haven’t tried downgrading the firmware yet, as I don’t currently have any available USB storage to copy the update to.
Has anyone else seen this behavior? Is there something simple I’m missing to get this functionality back?

I assume that you’re not pressing the remote power button for too long and turning the player off completely.
Now that’s an interesting thought. I recently changed the software I use to program my Harmony remote. Maybe the new software has a different code for turning the player on/off. I’ll look in to that tonight.
EDIT:
I took a quick look and saw the remote is ‘holding’ the button for 3sec. Is that long enough for a full power down?
Logitech moved from desktop software to an online client (MyHarmony.com). It’s a pretty decent interface, which makes the advanced options more accessible.
I have not tested this (using a Harmony as well) but the manual says that 5 secs would be the time to completly shutdown. I never bothered to program the Harmony for full shutdown as I leave the HUB on 95% of the time. To reboot or full shutdown, I search though the “remote drawer” for the HUBs and hold down the off button.
This should be easy for you to figure out if you have the remote that came with your HUB. Take your Harmony out of the picture and test standby and full powerdown with the HUB’s remote. If it works correctly, than you know you have to re-program the Harmony correctly
I changed the power off timeout on my Harmony remote from 3sec to 0.5sec and this problem is now fixed. I’ve filed a case with Logitech to make them aware of this issue.
