Hi, I have various WDTV Live devices, and while I am not sure if this remote in question was for the streaming boxes or the older (just called Live) boxes. It is a small remote only about 4 inches, with power/home/direction/play/stop etc buttons only. Inside the battery compartment there is the following numbers:

100927002911

It just suddenly stopped working and I am wondering:

  1. how to open it up to see if I can see what is wrong?

  2. how to get a replacement and what do they cost?

I have tried new batteries and nothing seems to work. However, if I grab another remote the WD device works fine, and the broken remote will not work with any of the WD boxes, so I am sure it is in trouble or kaput.

Older remotes (like for my Plus)  may be out of stock at WD’s store.  I found a new remote for my Plus, (and for other units) via eBay shopping.   It is the original remote and costs much less than from WD, too., w/free shipping.  It is from a China seller – where else!

tyvm… I found the ebay ones as u said. For the cost, it is not worth worrying about the old one, so I just ordered a new one.

Great, and I did not even need one, so last week “for the cost” the one I bought is a “spare”.  With multi players in house, a spare is handy.  Ya never know when yer remote will blow up.  Right?   :slight_smile:
