Have a brand new 2 TB Mybook Live NAS drive connected to a system running Windows 10. The drive is assigned a hard IP address, and the drive control panel is accessible via browser. The drive appears in the Network section of Explorer. When I try to access the Shares on the drive, I get a message stating that I don’t have permissions to access the shares. I have 3 other MyBook drives attached to the same system that work fine.
I have looked through the configuration parameters for the drive and the shares, and I can’t find where to set the permissions. The only user currently enabled is “admin”, with no passwords.
I don’t remember having to do anything special to access the other (somewhat older) drive shares. The configuration pages for the new drive are different from the old ones.
Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion. I have only 2 users, and they have all permissions. All the shares on the drive are set to “Public”, so userid shouldn’t matter, at least it doesn’t on my other MyBook Lives. have a screen shot of the error message I get, how do I embed a jpg? The error is in a dialog labeled “Open Folder”, and states:
“\NEW-BU-BIGDISK is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.”
