Windows 10 - one user can't access shares

I’ve a My Book Live 2TB and recently bought a new laptop that i’ve upgraded to Win 10.

There are 2 user accounts on the laptop, myself and my wife, both have admin settings.

My account can see the My Book live and has been able to Map the 4 shares I have created with no issues.

My wifes account, can occasionaly see the My Book Live in the Network listings, can access the webpage settings for the drive, and also with WD Quick View can see the drive details.  However despite all this can’t access the Drive files.  I’ve tried multiple ways Win+R, WD Quick View and through trying to open in the Network, but all ways I get the same “windows cannot access…” error.

I’ve tried accessing any of the shares, including the public one with no user settings.  Her user name for the local account and in the My Book is the same, the My Book account also has no password for her user.

Any help appreciated

Hello and welcome to the WD Community.

See if the following link helps

I’ve tried:

  • Resetting the device so I’ve no passwords - this has now kicked my main account out of the shares
  • Trying the regedit solution
  • Switching off password protected sharing
  • The account that had no access before is also just a local account who’s username matches the username that’s set-up in the My Book, this seems to match the temp login solution

Nothing is working and I’m now further back than I was before
