I have WD live and I connected to the network (Ethernet cable) and shared some folders on my laptop that has WIn 7 64-bits. I have turned off the password protection sharing and made the folders available to everyone with the read and write permission. When run WD live and go to video then server then I see my laptop name and then I choose it. When I choose it I do not get prompted for username and password. It takes me in right to folders and shows me folders that are not even on my laptop and has 2 videos only the landscape and another HD sample and that is it. I can not see my shared folders on my laptop.
Anyone can shed a light on what am I missing or the mistake that I’m doing. I need to be able to access media from laptop please. Can you help

If you meant media library, well I have that option as (On) but did not see the files. And what about the user name and password thingy as I saw in the FAQ that if we turned off password protecting sharing we should enter anonymous as the user.
I’ve never had much luck with Win 7 and a ‘no password’ situation. I finally created a new username / password in Win 7 (wdtv/wdtv), then shared out the folders I want to that specific username.
When you connect from the WDTV to Win 7, enter the wdtv username and password once and log on, then go back to the system options to change the password requirement to ‘don’t ask’ or ‘Remember’ or whatever it is… I forget the exact variable name and don’t have the WDTV in front of me. From that point forward you can access the Win 7 system without having to enter the username and password.
