Windows 7 can't install WD setup software ; My Cloud not recognized. WD Smartware does recognize ?!

Yesterday, I connected my new My Cloud 2 TB to the router.

When I go with my PC (Windows 7, 32 Bit) to My Cloud, it says “no my cloud devices found.”
Several times reset, no success.

I installed the My Cloud app on my Ipad and IPhone and that works fine! WD is recognized and I can copy / backup the files.
So there is a network connection.

Can anyone tell me how to solve the problem with my PC ??

Have you tried placing the IP address of your MyCloud in your browser? This should pull up the Dashboard. You can find the MyCloud IP inside you routers IP Table.

Are you trying to get to a particular share on the MyCloud through Win 7, or are you just setting up the MyCloud?

SectorGZ,

I just did it according the manual:

  • Connect the UTP and electricity cable to the My Cloud.
  • Use the “My Cloud” in explorer.

I didn’t anything in windows network sharing. Is this necessary ?
(I am not a network expert  ).

It looks like it is not an IP issue, because IPAD and IPhone recognize the My Cloud correctly.

Skip past the automated setup section in the manual, and read about using the Dashboard to configure and control the device.

You may need to set the Workgroup setting, and you may have a firewall that may be causing trouble.

Is your WD My Cloud and Windows 7 PC in the same workgroup?

To setup your WD My Cloud visit this site and see the information that is provided there.

Yesterday, I started with My Cloud from my Windows PC without succes.

After trying several things, I did the setup with the Dashboard http://wdmycloud
This was succesful, the WD My Cloud updated the firmare and I saw the Dashboard and round circle.

It looks that the hardware is correct.
Strange that I still can’t find the My Cloud from my PC.

How can I find which workgroup the WD My Cloud is located? (I suggest also in the same WORKGROUP).

See the example image below for selecting your workgroup name in the Dashboard under Settings>Network. My, My Cloud, is the 1st generation.

Click on, tap or activate image to enlarge it.

Tried several things, I am a little bit further, but still without complete succes.

I can Ping my WD My Cloud.
I can find it in my network.
If I install WD Smartware, the install program finds the WD My CLoud
But still, if I want to install it in WD Install Software the WD My Cloud is not recognized.

Even the app from my Iphone works oke, even outside my network…

Is there maybe an alternative WD Install Software available? I use 1.2.4.19

 Solution found: setup version doesn’t work on firmware 2.XXX (which I have).

So I tried the webbased version, and now working !!
