Workaround with non-working subtitles

Hello

I couldn’t post to the sticky regarding non-working subtitles, the topic seems locked.

So yesterday I tried to read a mp4 with an external srt file on the WD TV. The srt was not listed on the the content of my network folder.

The subtitles didn’t show up too even though I clicked on “Subtitles” from the remote control.

I then put the 2 files on a USB stick and it worked.

I tried today another workaround. I used Shared Files>Windows instead of local network. Subtitles are now working.

So I guess there is an issue with the network protocol and srt files.

Sorry if the problem has been documented before.

So what you are saying is you tried before over DLNA rather than shares? It’s quite possible the DLNA server you’re using does not support MP4s and subtitles although usually pretty much all DLNA devices do support external SRTs.

Well I use a Freebox Révolution  too and it can read srt files through multiple protocol. More info about the Freebox Révolution here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freebox
