Backup MyCloud to MyCloud

Fascinated from my first MCloud (4GB), I bought another one, also a MyCloud (4GB).
Both are in the same local network and I wanted to use the second one to backup the first one.

Meanwhile I found out that it isn’t possible; a single-bay My Cloud is unable to create a remote backup to another …

Then I bought an 3.0 USB-cable and connected both MyClouds.
Now it looks as this way doesn’t work either.

Due to the fact that I already have this two devices, can anyone recommend how to do a backup in the easiest way ?

Are they V1 or V2 firmware? , I have both ,I can backup both myCloud<->MyCloud over my LAN with no issues.

It may just be a configuration issue.

What’s happening when you try , any error messages?

Both are on 2.21.126
Here it is described that it doesn’t work via remote backup:

Via USB I don’t see the the second cloud as a disc to choose it as a target.

I can copy manually from MyCloud to MyCloud, that’s no issue. But unfortunately not with the delivered software via remote or USB.

You cannot create a “remote” backup from one single bay/single drive v2.x firmware My Cloud to another single bay v2.s My Cloud. The v2.x single bay/single drive My Cloud is missing the remote server (or it is not active) which prevents the unit from being a “remote” backup target.

Check the other options for Backup, if there is a LAN option, select that and try to backup from one My Cloud to another. Otherwise you can typically perform a backup to an attached USB hard drive. Note: you cannot connect one My Cloud (or a computer) to another My Cloud’s USB port. The My Cloud USB port is generally only for attaching external USB hard drives. The My Cloud is a network attached storage device (NAS) not an external USB hard drive.

I see what you’re trying to do…I guess you COULD run something like Secondcopy on your PC timed to make a mirror image of one set of shares to another on your second MyCloud , just leave it running in the background when your PC is turned on.

Someone did post a way to use SSH and rsynch from one to another somewhere if you don’t mind hacking the firmware a bit.
