I am part of a small business and we are looking to create an offsite backup of our data. From what I have gathered, there are multiple ways of doing this. We are looking for a somewhat cheaper solution than paying for a monthly cloud service. So, my question is, can we buy two MyClouds, back one up to the other, and just take the second one off site (preferably leaving it offsite, but still being able to backup, rather than taking it back and forth everyday) Or is that a lot of work and there’s a better option?
Yes, you can backup your data from one My Cloud unit on site to another My Cloud unit that is in another area/state/country. The backup speed will depend on how fast your internet connection.
Thank you! Follow up question, if I set up both devices in the office and then take one offsite, would I need to create a static IP for the offsite one? Since the data I am backing up is from a different network?
I suggest you visit the Learning Center, http://www.mycloud.com/Learn/?language=en . Read the Helpful Topics and watch the videos. Read the User Manual.
These devices are NAS, Network Attached Storage.
