Files copied to MyCloud Public folder now inaccessible

I recently copied a large group of folders from my personal storage on MyCloud to the Public folder to share with my wife. After copying them to Public, I made sure they were accessible just as when they were from my personal storage. After doing so, I deleted the folders in my personal storage. To my horror, the next time I looked in the Public folder all of the folders have a red circle with a white line through it and when I try to open any folder it says “can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see the contents”. How do I get permission so I don’t lose all my files? I am using a MacBook Air running Sonoma 14.5.

Can’t speak specifically to Macs as I run Windows.

However, go back into the Webui and verify the permissions set on the Public folder. Do you have it set for Public “ON” or do you have specific permissions specified in the User Access section?

I assume you mean web user interface. Basically home.mycloud.com. The public folder isn’t available that way. Only my personal folders.

I was able to find another method for Macs and it worked. Thanks anyway.

Glad you got it!!

Would you mind sharing in case someone else comes across this?

Do you have a My Cloud device OR a My Cloud Home device? They are not the same. The My Cloud Home has different features, options and operating system than the My Cloud device. If you have My Cloud Home, in the future see the My Cloud Home subforum where people more knowledgeable about that device may be able to assist.

Suggestions for the OS5 My Cloud may not work on a My Cloud Home device due to the My Cloud Home not having a “Dashboard” like the My Cloud line of devices have.

OK. Thanks for the clarification.

Here is where I found my solution.
