Hey Scott, hopefully you’ll check back and see this. I got home and changed some of my folder thumbs with the period and nothing changed. The only thing this fixed for me was the duplicate jpeg next to the movie. The way my NAS is set up is one big Media folder, then individual folders for Movies, TV Shows, Kids Movies, Kids TV Shows, etc., then the movie files inside of those with corresponding jpegs. What I was trying to fix for example was in the Kids Movies folder was a jpeg of my daughter that would display as the cover of the folder. I have tried putting the preceding period file inside the folder like it was and nothing. Then tried putting it in the main folder so that file and the folder were together and still didn’t display. Also tried the original file (without the preceding period) in the main folder next to the folder and that didn’t do it either. Did this method fix that for you, do you have your set up differently, or am I doing something wrong?
Make sure your folder thumbnail file is located inside the folder and is actually called “.folder.jpg”.
I have also been making sure that all of my jpg’s are under 70kb
I have been using a program to convert all of my jpg’s in batches to under that size - I can get the name of the program when I am at home if that helps
Edit
The program I have been using to batch convert the jpg files is http://www.irfanview.com/. I have been setting the file size to 65kb - this program does pretty well but you may need to manually reduce very large files first, lest it produce an error in the processing (typically can’t save …)
