I’ve tried searching here and on the internet in general and I’m all confused.
Will the WDTVLiveHub stream from Netflix @ 1080? If so, how can I make sure what version of the firmware I should have? I can’t ever get more than 720 HD and, based on what I’ve seen at Netflix, my internet connection should comfortably support a 1080 connection.
Hi TheOtterslider, 1080P is supported for all WDTV models on USA /Canada. From the Netflix support page, “Maximum resolution is listed; titles with an HD symbol will stream in high definition on capable devices with an Internet connection speed of 5 mb/s or more.”
I’ve read that in more than one place on the internet. However, when I play a show marked HD on netflix, the click the options button on the WD remote, the highest I ever see is 720HD. if I monitor network bandwidth while it is playing, it looks like my WDTVLive Hub never tries to play anything more (Once the initial play has started and everything settle down, all I see are spikes from 0Mbps to 6ish Mbps every 30 seconds or so…nothing more). it makes me think that the device isn’t even trying to play a higher stream (the device itself is set to output 1080p).
Is there anyway I can verify what version of the app is on the device? Are there different versions of the TVLiveHub? I’ve had mine for about 2.5 years now…
