I have tried to read as much as possible. I have downloaded freeware and also software that I might purchase. For a while there I thought about mediaportal but thought it was too complex hence me spending on the TV Live Hub.
I still have not worked out how to watch a movie on the hub from my PC.
I can see other files in my shared folder but have not been able to convert a DVD and watch it on the hub. I’m about ready to throw the thing out and give up on my idea of a media server.
I am by no means an I.T person but I consider myself fairly PC savvy.
I have used AnyDvd, CloneDVD and Handbrake. Saved files in ISO, VBO and IFO… saved them all to my shared public folder on my pc and the hub does not see/play them.
I’ve tried to convert PAL and/or NTSC using anydvd, still no difference.
All I want to do is copy DVD’s to a hard drive (on the hub or my pc) and watch them via the hub. I will probably copy cd’s or pictures to it too but want to get over the DVD hump 1st. I haven’t even thought about my BR disks yet.
Please, can someone tell me in a dummies version what I should do? I’m not even trying to backup newer DVD’s… right now I’m trying the Blues Brothers.
I feel like a dummy not being able to do it but I am at my wits end on getting this to work now.
All you do is save the DVD as an iso image and put in on the hub internal disc. The hub will pick it up via the media library and you play it.
Tell us exactly what you are doing and where you are saving them. What do you mean when you say that you copied some files to the hard drive and though they weren’t perfect, they did play for a while? What files were these and what do you mean when you say that they played for a while. Were they DVD rips and did they stop after a while? If you rip a DVD to an image then you normally get the an exact copy of the DVD. If you are playing from the internal disc then you should have no problem playing back any rip.
For some reason the issue was access to the drive on my PC. I still don’t know why that would be as the hub sees some files but not all.
However, I am able to save locally to the hub as ISO and view a movie which was my goal so thank you for everyones help. I’ll continue to research the PC issue but at least I can do what I intended this equipment for so I am happier this morning than early last night.
LOL
Is ISO the best format for storage space and quality purposes on the hub?
