Help the new guy

Good Afternoon,

I just bought the Live Hub and will be settingit up tomorrow - any advice for the new guy - on a tech scale of 1-10 I am about a 6 I would say - I have converted several DVD to xvid and all of  my itunes movies…(this will be connected to my netw

Any setup gotchas, cool tricks,etc?

thanks for the help

I’m guessing your iTunes movies are DRM’d, in which case they WILL NOT play on the Hub…

Tony, I have a tool and have removed all the DRM. Ihave a few basic quesitons though:

  • audio input - stero or digital pass through (I am connecting to a Sony reciever)

  • Can I create a playlist in the WDTV or do I ahve to import one?

  • When I imported all of my movies, I had jpeg folder art and it is all showing up under photos  - anything I can do about this?

  • I have many many concert DVDs - When I rip them as chapters, and import to the WDTV, I can play each individual song, but cannot ‘string’ the files together to play in one strea if that is what we want that day rather than jumping from track to track - any way around this? (a video playlist of sorts??)

  • I want to use a USB wireless device - any reccomendations?

  • can i delete ON the WDTV (like all the sample songs and video?)

  • I have loaded data from 2 different USB storage devices - when i select Video, it gives me the sample stuff, device #1 and Decive #2 - is there any way to merge that into one large list?

Thanks for the help!

— Probably should use DIGITAL PASSTHROUGH.

— No, you have to import them.  Remember to make all filenames RELATIVE.

— You might try filtering by FOLDER, instead, so you don’t have to navigate through them…

— I’ve not tried it, but I think a video playlist should work…

— I use the Cisco WUSB600N.

— Yes.

— Try changing the FILTERING mode (GREEN button)

Can’t you just rip the entire DVD to .mkv and leave the chapters in?  That’s all I do.  Then I can either watch the whole thing, or any specific song I choose.

Roofing guy - will try that - thanks.

Tony -

Thanks for your quick response…

How do i delete the sample files?

Also, what do you mean by relative? I have all music in a folder called cusestevemusic - that’s where all the play lists point - i am just copying the entire cusestevemusic folder (contianing the playlists)…will that work?

thanks agian
