Problem in WD5000AADS Caviar Green

Caviar Green WD7500AADS fails the Western Digital Data LifeGuard Diagnostics Quick test with following error message:

06-Quick Test on drive 1 did not complete! Status code = 07 (Failed read test
element), Failure Checkpoint = 97 (Unknown Test) SMART self-test did not
complete on drive 1!


and also Extended test

08-Error was detected while repairing bad sectors.


also computer freezes very often and displaying Data error (cyclic redundancy check) while copying. what should i do?

would appreciate any help.

and also tried Windows Checkdisk utility.

i’ve just had my drive do this and am now rma back to wd as only 6 months old

if yours is in warranty i suggest you do the same after getting what data you can off the drive

and now here i am again, new rma drive has just got the same problem

do these green drives have a manufacturing problem?

how do i get my money back as i dont want the 3 week wait i had last time to get a new drve that then fails again

in last two month, i replaced my drive two times because bad sectors problems. again i’m experiencing the same problem with the third one.

Is there some manufacturing problem with WD Caviar Green …

i don’t want to replace a drive/month. someone plz help

im sorry mate but im thinking that is some problem with the power supply or motherboard…

try changing the power supply first :slight_smile:

Hi David,

    i already checked power supply and changed my motherboard three weeks before. i also have a second HD, which i use during the replacement time but there is no problem with that drive.

  i bought the drive in feb. after 40-45 days it developed the bad sector. the drive i got in replacement didn’t pass the DLGDIAG test and now this is the third disk having the same problem. :cry:

Yea ordered the 500 green off Newegg and I dont think the driver cd came with it. Can someone help and point me in the right direction as to where I can download the driver for windows 7? Guess Win dosnt come with basic drivers anymore huh?
