Raid1 rebuild not working?

Hello all, grateful for any advice.

Had a disc fail in a 2 bay Mycloud ex2. Replaced the defective disc with a new WD red drive. However, I can’t get the RAID to rebuild.

If I reboot the device, it will start (so when looking at the Storage section in the management page it says “rebuilding, 1%, 330 mins” etc). However, after a while that disappears and just says Degraded. Have restarted several times but no joy. Also no longer have a manual rebuild button, even if I turn the auto rebuild off.

When I leave it alone after restarting, the blue lights are on for both discs (which I assume means they are doing something?) so I had some hope that it was rebuilding anyway but having left it for 2 days there is no sign of any conclusion. Am I missing something?

thanks,

Ian

Hello Shepster,

Please follow the instructions and troubleshooting steps for replacing a faulty drive on your My Cloud Ex2 device:

Thanks, I appreciate the advice but that’s more or less where I started. Since the original note I’ve updated the firmware on the device and rebooted it. Oddly, now all the lights on the front of the device are blue, but if I log in to the control panel there is still an alert saying that the storage is degraded, and it still says that in the Storage section of the control panel. The panel is set to auto-rebuild - so I’m not sure why it is just continuing to say degraded and not attempting to fix the issue?

thanks

Ian
