Sharing problem

Hi all, first time for me. I have a WD mybook white light I think you refer to them as, 1TB external drive / nas

I am having loads of problems with this unit. I mainly use it as media storage. It has workded fine for the last year or more but all of a sudden I am getting some issues. I updated version and noticed newer version now has townky media. Maybe it was there all along. I used to only conenct to it with another brand media player as it was right from the box, and noticed that I could only see files from public folder.

I have some other files that I can get to via windows machines, but I am now also trying stream via android devices, and it  onlys will let me see the files that are ion public folder.

I played around with twonky server, and managed to include other shares, and they worked! Well sort of, when they did work, if I rebooted the WD I would lose all those shares I managed to set. Now I cant even see those other folders.

I did find something about making sure folders hae share permission set, it does seem to all be there when I log into web /advance/users of WD

I dont really know what happened, but now I can only add shares in twonly available in public folder. It only lets me see the folders that are in the public folder. Not sure why I cant even see other folers that exist not.

Next I tried to ftp in and thought I would move those other folders into the public folder.

I can log into WD via ftp, see all of the folders, but cant move them using cute ftp

When I look at the folder I see all of the files and at the ned it just says error with no code or explanation. I work in a technical field but this thing dirves me crazy. It seems to be fucntional, but I am surely missing something stupid here!

Go easy on my I am not reall a linux person but I can follow complex intructions as long as you dont assume I know anything

Thanks in advance

Hello,

I recommend that you try to reset the drive using the rest button on the back.

The TwonkyMedia server application searches for the media in the three shared folders (Videos, Photos, and Music) stored on the My Book World Edition connected to your home network. The server is pre-set.
