Unsupported format message (bug)

Many times I’e received the “unsupported format”  message when playing files that are freshly copied to the drive.  It seems that while the drive is being indexed, new files are reported as unsupported. Its confusing because eventually the file plays fine (when indexing is done).

This message is in error.  The file IS playable, and it should not be reported as an unsupported format until its been validated.  If anything, it should be reported as “Not yet processed”, or something similar.

Does anyone else have this issue?  Does anyone know if WD recognizes this as an issue?

I have the same problem.

I also have this problem, but mine does it even after indexing is done with random files.  Some .mkv files don’t have sound, and I am constantly adjusting the optical audio cord. I am not very impressed with this media player at all.

Exactly what does that mean?   The implication here is if you have to “adjust the cord,” there’s a HARDWARE thing going on, not Firmware…
