Very long setup

Hi,

i bought a Mycloud today, i plugged it to a switch connected to my internet box, i launched the setup 2 hours ago, and i’m still waiting for the light to become blue.

i see that the ethernet card is working at the back and i hear the disk is busy inside, but still no blue light.

is it normal ?

Thank you.

Is it brand new, or secondhand?

If it is brand new, it shouldn’t take more than about ten minutes to give a blue LED.

What is the front panel LED doing? (Colour, flash).

Can you connect to the Dashboard?

Can you see it in your router’s list of connected network devices?

Is this the very first time you have powered it up, or have you power-cycled it a few times, trying to get it to respond?

it is a brand new one.

and it is the first time i power it on.

the light is yellow and is blinking.

still no blue light…

According to the WD My Cloud User Manual a Yellow blinking LED light on the front indicator light indicates either a disk thermal warning threshold exceeded (under or over temp) issue or the network cable was not inserted.

First step is to check to make sure both ends of the Ethernet cable are inserted properly and is connected to a networking port on the local network gateway, router or hum/switch. Also test with a different Ethernet cable, sometimes cables do go bad.

i powered it off, changed the cable, powered it on again =>

2mn with still white light, then blinking yellow light again…

Try a different router port, one you know to work with other equipment.

What is the state of the LEDs on the MyCloud Ethernet connector?

It is possible you have a device with a faulty Ethernet port.

the router port works, i unpluged another device to plug the wdcloud

the ethernet leds at the back are working

while the yellow led is blinking, there is some traffic between the wdcloud and the router (at least the leds are blinking on the two devices) and the hdd inside the wdcloud works from time to time (it could be heard)

i will check if there are users who have the same problem with my internet service provider, and if i can’t make it work, i’ll bring it back to the vendor tomorrow.

hi,

i finally got back to the shop and got refund for the wdcloud, i bought a normal HDD instead.

Thank you for your replies !
