My daughter placed the batteries in backwards to the WD live remote, now it doesn’t work (funny smell coming from it too). Is there a way to get the WD HD Live to still work via some other controls? I have an iPod, and several other remotes (Cable, HD TV, DVD player) I know the WD live will boot of the USB drive , is there a mode that will allow me to start a movie from my PC and play it from the WD Live romtely, since the remote control on the WD Live is broken. I have ordered a new remote from WD support last week, but I have yet to receive it. New one was supposed to arrive in 3-5 business days. Thanks!!!
Rick
If the WDTV was on and you had a Win7 PC, you should be able to “PlayTo” the WDTV.
OK thanks, I do have a Win7 laptop. But when I right click on the file and click on play to it says failed to initialize. I am looking into this now, Thanks!
PS when the WD TV Live powers up on the TV, it is at the main menu. is there something that has to be done to get it to work over the wired network? I know it is not visible on the Wireless because the WPA Password is not set yet.
Hmm… ya, sorry about that… I assumed the networking was already up and running on the WDTV when the remote died.
If you can’t get it networked, I’m pretty sure all you can do (short of buying another WDTV to get its remote) is wait for the new remote to show up.
I here that, one more day and it will be 5 business days. lol.
There must be a way to get the fireware to boot into an operational mode that works at least over the wired connection. I’ll search around tomorrow and let you know.! Thanks for the help!
