Wd my cloud mirror not in finder on wifi

Hello,

I just got a new wd my cloud mirror 6To that is working properly using an Ethernet connection. The problem is, when the MacBook is connected to the wifi only (the one connected to the same rooter as the my cloud mirror) the my cloud volumes does not appear in the finder, time machine does not see it as well. Is there some settings that I may have changed incorrectly ?
Thank you

What is the make/model of your router, and how fast is the wifi on it (what spec, 802.1##)?

Also what speed/spec is the wifi on your Mac?

If the wifi is too slow, then the search for it may time out before it can be seen.

Thank you for your answer.

I have 802.11n on the mac and airport express, I don’t think this should be a problem ?

The WD my cloud mirror, the aiport express, the modem, and my computer are connected to a Gigabit switch.

The wierd thing is, the dashboard is alwas accessible, even on wifi.

Is 802.11n really not fast enough ?

802.11n should be fine. I ask as originally I had mine connected via an old router and there were problems sometimes with visibility of my MCM to Smartware (I run PC’s not Mac’s, but the principle is probably the same).

I know on my PC sometimes the MCM (and also my Raspberry Pi) aren’t visible under Windows Explorer, but if I access them there by typing their name (\WDMYCLOUDMIRROR for example) then it finds it and it shows up. I’ve always put it down to network traffic and the fact that the MCM is a Linux(ish)-based box, as it’s quite variable and both the MCM and the Pi seem to appear and disappear at the same time (although my wife’s Windows PC is always visible, as is my XP desktop PC when that is switched on).

Is there any way on your Mac that you could do a similar test to see if you can access the MCM that way via it’s network name (replace WDMYCLOUDMIRROR with whatever name you’ve given your MCM in the dashboard)? I’m not so familiar with Mac’s so not sure if/how that could be done.
