I’ve tried to upgrade my WD TV Live to the latestt firmware and the upgrade failed.
Now I get the error screen “Insert a USB drive with firmware to recover your WDTV”.
After I input an USB key with the latest firmware on it (3 files) box recognizes it and reboots.
Then it displays the upgrade progress screen but stays on 0%. I waited at least 20-40 minutes. Then tried to replug USB but it does not change anything.
I have tried different USB keys formated in FAT32 (128mb, 256mb, 2gb, 4, 8, 16) all them get stuck on 0%.
Is my WDTV bricked or is there anything else I could try? Maybe different firmware (I used 1.06.43_V)
Did you try both the side and the rear USB ports? Power off the WD, insert the USB key, then power up the WD? Did you hard reset the device (paperclip in hole)?
Yes, I’ve tried both ports. And tried a hard reset which didn’t have any noticable effect. USB was always safely removed from PC. It just always sticks on 0% after self-restarting from the initial “Insert USB…” screen.
Don’t know if it applies in your case but I had to wait for over an hour once for an an update to finish. There is nothing to lose by just letting it sit for awhile longer.
Sounds like there’s definitely something wrong…I just USB upgraded my WD Live+ from 1.04.10 to 1.05.04 last weekend (thanks Mike!) using a 16GB USB stick on the left side port. The whole process took maybe 15 minutes. The progress bar didn’t stick at zero for long - maybe 30 seconds, then it started moving pretty regularly to 100%.
Last WD upgrade to 1.06.43_V was interupted with power outage and now it stars with “Insert USB to recover” screen. So I am not really sure if it has any version now.
