For archival purposes I’ve been switching from 4TB Green drives to the 6TB Green drives which I guess were renamed to Blue WD60EZRZ drives. I’ve bough four WD60EZRZ drives and it’s my regular practice to partition, do a quick format and then use the Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostics to do a long test on the drive just to make sure there are no problems.
In the case of the first three the long test took about 8 hours give or take a few minutes but this latest drive took a few minutes over 12 hours, the test came back clean with no errors. I use a StarTech Trayless Hot Swap Mobile Rack in the three computers where I use these drives but I always do the long test in the same computer so I really have to wonder why the long test took 4 hours longer on this drive than the other 3 drives and if that signifies any potential problems. Should I be concerned about this?
