I recently installed WD My Cloud Ex2 and the Admin application (Firmware Version : 1.04.05). And as well WD My Cloud application.
In admin application I enabled Cloud Access in Settings->General->Cloud Access. I switched connectivity setting there to Manual, leaving External Port 1 to 80, and External Port 2 to 443.
Then I opened WD My Cloud application, and in the folder Public->Shared Pictures selected a photo, clicked right mouse button, and selected “Copy Link”.
Then I tried the link in browser, and it didn’t work, verizon - my internet provider, responded with the page saing: “Sorry, We could not find “wdmycloudex2.device1667370.wd2go.com”. Did you mean www.ed2go.com?”
My home network uses Verizon router (MI424WR-GEN2), and I read in some forums that I probably have to change port forwarding in the Verizon router to make it work. I actully tried to set TCP port forwarding for 80 port mentioning the internal IP address of the My Cloud device, but it didn’t help, I’m still getting error page.
Please, help me to set up the connection via link to my shared photos and etc.
I read today that Verizon blocks requests to 80 port, so I changed Cloud Access first port to 8080 and added it to Ports Forwarding in Verizon router settings. Unfortunatelly it didn’t help. And I feel the problem is not in Router or Firewall, but in WD server which is supposed to redirect links to the content to my external IP. But looks instead of redirecting it replies with Error.
Btw, I configured FTP access to my folders stored on My Cloud without problems. Had to add 20 and 21 ports to Ports Forwarding list of the router.
I have FiOS too and Verizon has never blocked port 80 for me but they have for a very long time blocked port 21 (ftp). So folks can come into the webserver running on my EX2 from outside just fine, but for ftp I use a non-standard port. So I am not sure how you got your ftp to work from outside.
