Help Please - WDTVLH newbie - very frustrated!

hi there hope someone with more know how can help me out as I have no hair left after the last 10 days trying to get this box to behave! started off by copying my mp3 collection (89000 tunes, 373Gb) to the hub from USB drive via PC and cabled LAN… that only took 3 days… then it spent another 3 days ‘compiling the media library’… then I gave a day off and when it rebooted it wouldnt recognise its internal HDD or the LAN… 3 reboots later and it recognised both and promptly started ‘compiling the media library’ again! after a couple more days it finished (again) - i didnt dare turn it off and give it a rest this time so i tried to actually use it to play some music and some movies (500Gb WD USB powered external with 290Gb of .avis) - browsing through the mp3s was tedious to say the least… it wouldve been quicker to find the CD on the shelf by a long way and when i plugged in the USB drive with the movies it started compiling the FGD media library again… left it on over night… still going in the morning… rebooted it… wheres the internal storage gone again! then i cleared the media library and switched it off and at last it seems more stable and scrolling files is passable… though of course i have no playlist capability, cant select any metadata etc which kind of defeats the whole flipping purpose of having the box even with no media library enabled, sometimes i turn it on and it boots and sometimes it doesnt please please please can someone help me get the best out of this box before it gets put back in its cardboard box and returned and i spend 5 times the money on building a media PC :o))

I think it’s better to take things slowly to diagnose if there’s a problem. Start by just putting a few folders into a new directory on a USB flash disk or hard disk, switch on the media library and change location to the new directory on the external drive. You should see a message that the media library is compiling and if you navigate into the USB directory you should see the folders appear gradually as the media library finds them. If the this works okay you can try moving the files on the local disk somewhere else, clear the media library and copy the folders from the USB to the local drive. If the folders show up on the local disk, you can copy more files until you have everything showing up in the media library. The key is not to copy everything at once. See how the first step goes.

Good luck
