Imac Crash

Hello All

My iMac hard drive crashed, no problem “My cloud” has my Time Machine backups. I replaced my Drive and have not been able to restore from my backup. It starts and abruptly stops. I can see the data but cannot seem to restore it to the new drive.

Any suggestions?

Hi Cav13,

Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this.

The link below will allow you to call support.

Thanks Alex , but it is turns into a huge circle. WD was my first call, they said I should call Apple. We spent two hours on the phone with Apple, with no resolution. We again went to WD who looked at the notes from the first call to them and said to call Apple.

Lovely.

How big is your time machine backup? You might be able to copy the backup to a directly connected drive (like USB), and restore from there.

I dont use apple’s products, so time machine is alien to me-- however, I do remember hearing that there were problems with WD’s implementation of time machine with High Sierra (along with a lot of other things not working right).

Is High Sierra the version of OSX in use here?

I’m in the process of doing that now. We had the same thought. I’ll let you know.
